Knotweed - the cutting edge

This is the beautiful vista from Station Plaza--with some of the knotweed cut back, you can now see the water coming down from the outlet under High Street.

Below are several before and after shots that show the progress of cutting back the knotweed.

This is the most basic attempt of knotweed removal. The below is excerpted from The Spruce.

Japanese knotweed can be suppressed (though usually not fully eradicated) by cutting it back. This process often must be used in conjunction with other methods.
  1. Cut Plant Down: Cut the plant down to the ground throughout the growing season, so it's not able to photosynthesize efficiently.
  2. Gather Cuttings: Because the cuttings can easily sprout new roots and take hold in the soil, make sure you gather them all up and bag them for disposal.
  3. Repeat: Repeat the process as new shoots emerge.
